Our Purpose

Immanuel Retreat Ministries exists to help all who participate in it to know, love, and serve God and one another, as described and commanded in the Holy Scriptures. We support churches and other organizations by providing a rural "retreat" setting and outdoor experience in which their leaders and members can strengthen their relationships with God and each other.

Core Values

A. The Spiritual Dimensions of Each Person

The Organization believes that every person has a spiritual dimension, and that it is possible and desirable to train, nurture, encourage and strengthen that dimension as represented by one's relationship with God.

B. The Appreciation of Creation

The Organization values the use of God's creation, the wonder and beauty of all that He has made, as a tool in accomplishing its purpose.

C. The Biblical Concept of "Retreat"

The Organization values both the commands in Scripture to "rest in the Lord" and "be still and know that I am God", and the example set by Jesus and many other to "go away to a quiet place" for the purpose of meeting with God.

D. Reliance on the Holy Spirit

The Organization values the deliberate act of listening to God and relying on His Holy Spirit to guide and direct one's affairs. This value is expressed both in the management of this ministry and as a central tenet to be conveyed to retreat participants.

E. Practice of the Spiritual Disciplines

The Organization values understanding and practicing the inward, outward, and corporate spiritual disciplines as described in Scripture. Their use will be both modeled by the Organization's leadership and incorporated into retreat practices.

F. Healing and Restoration

The Organization believes that through Jesus Christ (by whose "stripes we are healed") each person can find physical, spiritual, and emotional healing, and values the potential to be a "centre of healing" for those who are hurting in any area of their lives.
